from Downtown Detroit Partnership:

''Campus Martius Park is a city of Detroit treasure and a national and international destination. In 2021, Campus Martius Park was named 'Top Public Square' by USA Today and has won countless awards for public space design, management, operations, placemaking and programming.

In the heart of the Downtown, Campus Martius Park is Detroit's Gathering Place for both residents and visitors. This famous park was created in 2004 at the site of Detroit's point of origin located at 0 mile, where the vision for the city's plan was originally laid out by Augustus Woodward in 1805.''

During the winter, the Campus Martius Ice Rink is open for skating. During the summer, part of the park is converted to a sandy beach. Kid-friendly events occur year round, and several eateries are just steps away.
